Vauxhall Motors is part of the Netherlands based Stellantis N.V., which was formed by the merger of Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (Italian/ American) and Groupe PSA (French). You may not be familiar with these names, but the automotive brands in the portfolio would be well known to most consumers. The New All-Electric Mokka-e


The battery-electric vehicle (BEV) SUV variant for the hugely popular petrol and diesel Opel Mokka compact SUV is now available in the UK. The re-designed zero-emission pure electric SUV has a 50kWh EV battery, capable of up to 201 electric miles (WLTP). The electric SUV has three driving modes: Sport, Eco and Normal.

The All-Electric Corsa-e


Vauxhall (Opel) announced the launch of a battery-electric vehicle (BEV) Corsa in December 2018. The all-electric Corsa-e looks very similar to the hugely popular internal combustion engine (ICE) Vauxhall Corsa supermini. But this is where the similarity ends. The Corsa-e is fully electric and has zero tailpipe emissions. It also has a longer wheelbase compared to the petrol variant.

The Vauxhall Grandland X PHEV SUV


Vauxhall (Opel) Grandland SUV was unveiled at the Frankfurt Motor Show in September 2017. The SUV went on sale in 2018. The Grandland X PHEV SUV is the first plug-in electric vehicle (PHEV) from Vauxhall. The e-SUV is available in either a front-wheel drive (FWD) or all-wheel drive (AWD) variant. The AWD is also referred to as Grandland X Hybrid4. PHEVs are perfect for individuals and families:

  • Keen to take a step towards lower emission and environment-friendly driving
  • Need a vehicle for extensive and regular long-distance travelling
  • Have limited access to private or public EV charging stations
  • Do a number of short commutes (30 miles and below) on a regular basis
  • Keen to save money

It is a widely known fact, in that, the average distance of a trip in the UK is a mere 12 miles. An average vehicle in the UK will travel between 8k and 10k miles per annum i.e. less than 30 miles per day. The newest eco-friendly PHEVs on the market will average between 20 to 30 zero-emission electric miles on a fully-charged EV battery. In most plug-in electric cars the EV battery will be below 15 kWh in capacity.

The Vauxhall plug-in electric SUV has a 13.2 kWh EV battery with a WLTP zero-emission electric range of 35 miles. Depending on driving style, weather condition and the services used in the e-SUV, expect a real world range closer to 30 miles. However, that would be more than sufficient for most daily commutes using the EV battery i.e. driving emission-free and also saving money (the running cost per mile of an EV is far lower than a petrol or diesel car). Depending on the cost of electricity, the cost per mile for driving on electric can be as low as 3 pence per mile. Bottom-line driving on electric miles is both cost efficient and eco-friendly!
