Maxus e Deliver 9 Panel Van

Though the availability of electric vans has increased over the recent past, few automotive manufacturers offer an electric van with three EV battery size options. The all-electric Maxus e Deliver 9 panel van is one of the few available in three EV battery options, giving companies a wider choice based on the needs of the business.

The Maxus e Deliver 9 panel van is available in: 51.5 kWh/ 72 kWh and 88.55 kWh. All three options offer a practical real-world electric range. The manufacturer claims an electric range up to 112 miles (WLTP) for the smallest EV battery option (51.5 kWh). For the middle of the range EV battery (72 kWh), the claimed e-range is 146 miles. The largest EV battery (88.55 kWh) has a range up to 185 miles (WLTP).

Of course, the real-world electric range will be lower, impacted by a number of factors, to include: payload, driving profile, speed, weather conditions, temperature, onboard services used etc. Expect a real-world e-range closer to 95 miles for the 51.5 kWh, 125 miles for the 72 kWh and up to 160 miles for the 88.55 kWh.

The manufacturer offers DC charging up to 50 kW. At 50 kW DC, the pure electric van can can be charged up to 80% in 45 minutes for the largest EV battery option (88.55 kWh). The 51.5 kWh and 72 kWh will take up to 40 minutes. In general, we at e-zoomed recommend never letting the EV battery charge fall below 10%. So best to plan the journey, such that there is always sufficient charge in the battery.

Maxus offers single-phase AC (7.4 kW) onboard charging compatibility. Which is indeed a pity, as most commercial premises in the UK have three-phase power supply (3-phase EV charging is substantially faster compared to 1-phase EV charging!).

In any case, using a dedicated single-phase (7.4 kW) EV charger, like easee, the 51.5 kWh EV battery can be fully charged in 7 hours. The 72 kWh will take up to 10 hours to achieve 100% charge, while the 88.55 kWh EV battery will take up to 12 hours. Though the e-van can be charged using a standard 3-PIN domestic plug, we at e-zoomed discourage using a domestic plug to charge an electric vehicle.

We at e-zoomed encourage a ‘topping up’ approach to charging an electric vehicle (EV). This is beneficial for the long-term maintenance of the onboard EV battery and of course, EV charging times are shorter. Maxus offers a 8 years or 100,000 miles warranty for the EV battery.

The e Deliver 9 panel van is available in two lengths: 5546mm (MH) – 5940 mm (LH). The e-van is available in only one height. The electric van offers up to 11 m3 cargo volume, with a payload up to 1,200 kg. The EV offers 3 seats. The manufacturer also offers a host of driving aids and technology, to include: 10 inch touch screen, blind area monitoring system, infotainment system, lane change assist system, lane departure warning system and more!

In terms of performance, the Maxus e Deliver 9 panel van delivers a maximum 310 Nm torque. The top speed is 62 mph. The EV can achieve 0-31 mph in 5.7 seconds. The electric van also incorporates regenerative braking to improve the efficiency of the EV and increase the electric range. The EV offers three driving modes.

The e Deliver 9 is eligible for the UK government plug-in van grant for the ‘large vans’ category. These vehicles are between 2,500kg and 4,250kg gross vehicle weight, have CO2 emissions of less than 50g/km and can travel at least 96km (60 miles) without any emissions at all. The grant will pay for 35% of the purchase price for these vehicles, up to a maximum of £5,000.

Bottom-line, electric driving is good for the environment and the wallet! You can lease electric vans via e-zoomed at very competitive prices!
